Subscriptions

What is free?

All of the charts — conversions, oven temperatures, ingredient weights, pan sizes, meat and seafood temperatures, shelf life and substitutions — are free, with no account and no limit. So is writing your own recipes, scaling them, and switching between metric and imperial. There are no ads.

What is paid?

Three things, sold separately so you only pay for the one you use:

  • Recipe Reader — photograph a recipe and get it back typed out.
  • Recipe Creator — say what you have, or photograph a dish, and get ideas and then a full recipe.
  • Meal Planner — a week of dinners built around your saved recipes, with one shopping list.

Each is available by the week or by the month, and the Everything plan covers all three. Prices are shown in the app before you buy. See Pricing.

How do I cancel?

Subscriptions are managed by the store, not by us, so cancelling is done there:

  • iPhone or iPad: Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions.
  • Android: Play Store → profile icon → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions.

Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep what you have paid for until the end of the period you are already in.

I paid but the features are still locked

Open the Subscriptions screen in the app — it re-checks with the store when it opens, which resolves almost every case. If it does not, make sure you are signed in to the same Apple Account or Google account you bought with, then email us.

I bought it — will my family have to buy it again?

Yes, for the paid tools. The subscriptions are not shared through Family Sharing, so each person who wants the Recipe Reader, the Recipe Creator, the Meal Planner or the Everything plan subscribes on their own Apple Account or Google account. The charts and writing your own recipes are free for everyone, with no account.

Using the app

The Recipe Reader missed part of my recipe

A recipe on a web page rarely fits in one screenshot. Take several as you scroll — overlap them slightly — and they are stitched into one. If something is missing between two photos you will be told, rather than having a step invented to fill the gap.

Can I edit a recipe after it has been read?

Yes. Anything read from a photo can be edited by hand afterwards, and hand-written recipes scale, convert and add up on the shopping list exactly like scanned ones.

The shopping list has one line where I expected two

That is deliberate. Quantities are added up across every recipe you have chosen, so two recipes that each want an onion appear once as two onions rather than twice as one.

Your recipes

Will I lose my recipes if I reinstall?

On Android, not in the ordinary case: your recipes, plans and household are part of your standard Google backup and come back when you reinstall or set up a new phone.

On iPhone and iPad they are kept on the device itself. They are included in the device's own backup, iCloud Backup or a backup to a computer, so setting up a new iPhone from that backup brings them along. Deleting the app deletes them, though, so save a backup from Settings first if you plan to reinstall.

Moving to a new phone, or to the other platform

Settings has a backup: it writes everything to a single file you can send to yourself or keep in Files, and restore on another device. That is also how to move between iPhone and Android, which the platform backups cannot do for you.

Restoring adds what is missing rather than replacing what is there, so restoring onto a phone that already has recipes will not delete them.

Do my recipes sync between two devices at once?

Not yet. Two devices used side by side do not stay in step. Live sync, and sharing a shopping list with someone else in your household, are what we are building next.

Privacy

The short version: your recipes and plans stay on your device, and what the Recipe Reader and Meal Planner send is processed and then discarded — we keep no copy. There is no account, no advertising and nothing that tracks you. The full policy is atPrivacy Policy.

Still stuck?

Email support@triangulumsoftware.com. If something is wrong with a recipe the reader produced, sending the photograph you used helps enormously — but only send it if you are comfortable doing so; we do not need it to help.
