Put the four charts, or any page you use, one tap from the Home Screen or the Lock Screen. Pin a page, or a single tab of a chart, to the app icon's press-and-hold menu, or give it a phrase for Siri.

The widgets

Eleven widgets, each a door into the app.

A widget opens Kitchen Tools on its page. They always use the app's light colours, and they share no data with the app.

How to add one

On the Home Screen or the Lock Screen.

Home Screen

  1. Touch and hold an empty part of the Home Screen until the apps jiggle.

  2. Tap Edit, then Add Widget. On iOS 17, tap the + button instead.

  3. Search for Kitchen Tools, choose a widget, and tap Add Widget.

  4. For Any page, touch and hold the widget, choose Edit Widget and pick the page.

Lock Screen

  1. Touch and hold the Lock Screen, then tap Customize.

  2. Choose Lock Screen, then tap the widget area under the clock.

  3. Scroll to Kitchen Tools and tap the page you want, round or rectangular.

The pin

Any page, or one tab, a tap away.

Every chart, My Recipes, the Recipe Reader, the Recipe Creator, the Meal Planner, the Shopping List and each of your recipes has a pin at the top right. On a chart, the pin takes the tab you are on, so Baking Weights can have a shortcut of its own.

App icon menu
Touch and hold the Kitchen Tools icon and the pinned pages are there. Conversions, Cooking, Shelf life and My Recipes are on it to start with.
Siri
Give the page a phrase, then say it to open the app on that page.
Home Screen
The pin explains how to add the page's widget.
Settings
Under "Open the app on", choose the page the app starts on, such as the chart you use most.

Shortcuts are free.

Widgets, the pin and Siri phrases work for every page, with or without a subscription.
